Inspired by.. Summer Motifs

in Inspiration on 21/05/13

My sewing and design list never ends.  One project gets finished as I add 3 to my to do list.

I love coming up with motifs to add to my sewing projects and have have been jotting down my “summer” themed images.  I thought it would be interesting to blog about it.  Not only would it create a unique reference and archive of my favorite summer 2013 ideas, but it would also be entertaining to see what I actually incorporate into my designs.

As June is nearing the corner, the sewing projects are grumbling louder and louder inside my head. Pillows, bags, pouches and storage bins.. The list of what to make goes on.  And for some crazy reason, I offered my completed projects to my friends so they could give them away as gifts.  I thought it would push me to develop super unique ideas.. But all it really did was overwhelm and overload me. Not the best idea.

Here is my summer 2013 list. To me, they conjure up feelings of freedom, fresh cut grass and my youth..  I am excited about attempting to integrate them into my projects.

Cottage theme – coastal, nautical, beach, water inspired, sunset and palm trees

Cabin theme – lazy days, log cabins, birds, wild flowers and cute bugs

School’s out theme – patios, parties, fresh scent of laundry, fire flies, fruit and veggie gardens

Check back over the upcoming months as I embellish my sewing projects – accessories, home accents and baby items with these summer inspired designs.

Happy Sewing.

What a neat idea. It’s like an online inspiration board. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks Tori. It will be interesting to see. I have a few ideas, so I will post to your “Tell Me Tuesday” link party when they are finished. Hopefully before summer ends!
