Make Spooky Monster Inspired Face Cloths

in Kids on 22/10/23

These monster face cloths are super easy and fun to make. Involve the whole family to create a project and fun face cloths that will be used for used to come.

Make these cute and goofy monster face cloths.

I first posted about these face cloths almost 10 years ago. My son was just 2 years old and loved monsters. He would run around the house and go “roar”.

October is the month of monsters, so I wanted to share about these cute face cloths again. What’s great about these face cloths is that they are an easy and timeless project.

These monster face cloths are so timeless, that my younger son recently found one and loved it. he wasn’t born when I first posted about these face cloths. He asks to use it in the bath all the time now.

These are an easy project!

Don’t feel crafty? Feel like you can’t draw? Look around your environment because there are monsters everywhere! This is a simple sewing project that you can make in under an hour. I promise, you don’t need to be super creative or an amazing sewer to create these.

Make Monster inspired face cloths. A fun and timeless project that makes bath time fun!

Materials:

Here are the supplies what you will need to make these cute face cloths. Do you already sew? You may have a lot of the supplies in your stash or laying around your house.

  • Colorful cotton face cloths – Buy a variety of fun, bright colors.
  • Solid Cotton Fabric Scraps – Use a variety of colors. You will need white and black for the eyes.
  • Thread – Match your fabric scraps
  • Sewing machine and related sewing supplies
  • Fusible web – I love Pellon EZ Steam. This works great and is double sided. Check manufacturer’s package for directions and details.
  • Sharpie for drawing the monster details
  • Iron and ironing board

Below are the steps for the face cloths. This is such a fun and simple Halloween sewing project. And, you can use these all year round!

Make spooky and fun monster inspired face cloths for your kids! An easy and timeless project.

Let’s get crafty:

.Step 1 – First, find inspiration for your monsters and draw a variety of eyes and crazy mouths. Don’t forget to make funky teeth.

Step 2 – Next, take a piece of fusible web and place on your work surface. Lay the fusible web onto your work surface with the smooth side facing up and the textured side down. Draw the monster eyes and teeth on one side. Draw the mouths and eyeballs on the other side.

Step 3 – Lay black and white fabric scraps onto your work surface. Finger press any of the wrinkles out. Lay the big mouth and eyeballs pieces that you drew on the black fabric and the eyes and teeth on the white fabric. Iron in place.

Step 4 – Cut out all the pieces.

Step 5 – Lay one of the colorful face cloths onto your work surface. Start in the corner and begin making the face with the eyes. Peel the backing off from the fusible web. It should feel like a “sticker” when it has been peeled away. Lay the eyes onto the face cloth and iron in place. Place white thread in your sewing machine, place the face cloth into your sewing machine and applique around the outside edge.

Step 6 – Lastly, repeat and continue making the rest of the face. Put the black eyeballs onto the white part and then layer the mouth and teeth. Stop each time and applique around the outside edge.

Instagram said I have to start making reels. So he Instagram said I have to start making reels. So here I am mildly uncomfortable, half heartedly participating. The “Next Best Chapter” is playing in the background, because apparently this is it.
