I am happy to announce my newest sewing pattern called the Alma Tote is available for sale!
Alma Tote… Wonder where the name came from? My husband and I went to Mexico last January. He won the trip from his company, so we stayed at quite a nice place called the One&Only Mandarina. I loved it there. The restaurant was called “Alma” and we ate there daily. I loved the delicious food and loved the restaurant name even more!
You can purchase the pattern here.
Here are a few fun facts and features about the pattern:
- The Alma pattern is based on my much loved Reversible Tote. However, the Alma Tote is much larger and has 2 exterior pockets within the side panels.
- The Alma tote has 2 exterior pockets and 2 large interior pockets.
- The bag has a reinforced bottom, which is great when carrying heavier objects.
- There are many possibilities to get creative with this tote. Mix and match your fabric and webbing colors!
- The cotton webbing detail makes the tote extra special and fun.
- Tote size is approximately – 13”L x 5”W x 10”H (not including straps)
I had a blast developing this tote bag and hope you will love this pattern. I brought my Alma tote on my last two vacations. While the images in this post are from my beach vacation in the Florida panhandle, this isn’t just a beach bag! It functions great in the city, as a work tote and is perfect as an everyday tote!
Lots of Pockets & A Roomy Interior:
The bag carries a lot. There are long interior pockets, so it secures all your goodies. The inside is roomy and has enough space to hold your essentials -make up and a make-up pouch, a book, phone, wallet, keys, and a few kid toys too!
Are you new to sewing? The Alma Tote is pretty easy to sew and a beginner can take it on with total confidence. Within the pattern there are step by step directions along with professional illustrations that highlight how to lay, pin and then sew each pattern piece.
Supplies and Materials:
Fabric – This bag is great when sewn in cotton canvas or a waxed canvas. Fusible interfacing gives it extra sturdiness and the pattern instructions call for it on the exterior pieces. I have sewn this bag in many different combinations and the fabric in these images are my favorite! The fabric is from Robert Kaufman Fabrics and designed by Noodlehead. The collection is called “Around The Bend”. Gorgeous, right?
Webbing for the straps – Need cotton webbing? You can search “1-1/2″ cotton webbing” on Etsy. There are a few suppliers and I really like “Penny Supplies“. You can even get a card of all the color options.
No hardware is needed for this bag!
Thank you for stopping by and a BIG thank you if you purchased or plan to purchase the Alma Tote pattern. I hope all is well on your end and Happy Sewing!
