DIY.. Easy Christmas Stockings

in Seasonal on 23/12/13

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care…

Alright, so it’s Dec 23rd and I just made my stockings. I spent more time thinking about these pesky stockings than it took to make them!  But no worries, if you put them off like I did, there is still time to get these made before Santa’s arrival.

Materials Needed:

  1. Pattern
  2. Fabric – 3 colors per stocking
  3. Cotton batting
  4. Rotary cutter, cutting mat and scissors
  5. Sewing machine and sewing supplies

If you Google “Christmas Stockings” you will find endless free patterns on the Internet. After combing through all the options, I ended up choosing a pattern from FabricWorm. I loved the look of their stocking and the sewing tutorial was amazing. Note: If you like this stocking, the pattern will fit on a fat quarter. Make sure to buy 2 fat quarters for the outside, 2 for the lining and 1 is enough for the cuff.

I LOVE the fabric I chose for the stockings. I’m not so sure how my husband feels about it. He said they turned great, but then didn’t say anything else.. Silence. I think the colors might be a bit “feminine” for him. This sounds terrible, but I forgot that he once told me that he doesn’t like polkadots! Oops. I should have remembered that when I was buying the fabric. I made his stocking a little more “manly” and added the grey striped cuff.   Anywho, I think they turned out great and will be cherished for years to come!

I’m not going to give a step by step today. The FabricWorm blog has a perfect tutorial – head on over to their blog AND fabric store and check them out. They rock!

I LOVE the fabric so much, I needed to share. I bought it all at my favorite/local quilting and sewing store – Keep me in Stitches. Here is the list:

  • Green polkadot – Ann Kelle for Robert Kaufman
  • Light green polkadot – “Always Blooming” by Susy Pilgrim Waters for P&B Textiles
  • Red polkadot – “Poinsettia and Holly” by Martha Negley for Rowan

Happy Holidays!

I made the most glorious little Kraft-tex journal I made the most glorious little Kraft-tex journal cover over the holidays. Not only do I love the color of the month for December (blue turquoise), but the texture of my journal is like aged leather and looks durable and rugged. Did you know Kraft-tex is actually paper??? My cover was simple to make and is just one rectangular piece of Kraft-tex, folded over at the ends and topstitched. Thats it.❤️

What a fun class! Thank you to the participants in What a fun class! Thank you to the participants in my first zoom block printing class. It was an amazing group of people coming together with a common goal - sharing their love of print and pattern design.

My hubby snapped a few pictures during the workshop. I’m normally a “hider outer”, but thought this was a perfect opportunity to say Hi. Even if it is looking down and away from the camera. 🤪

I will be hosting another block printing zoom workshop mid January. Come one come all. DM or email me for details.
