Hello Zig Zag!! Yes, the zig zag pattern can now be seen everywhere… Some may be growing tired of it, while others may be just jumping on board. I still love this pattern. It can add a pop of modern color to any room in the form of a throw pillow, storage bin, table runner or even a headboard. The best part is when you sew the item yourself – it can be an easy DIY room update that doesn’t break the bank.
I found an online store that sells zig zag cotton duck fabric. I couldn’t resist and bought swatches and a few yards of all the colors available. The first project on my list was a punchy yellow zig zag headboard for the spare bedroom. I enrolled my husband into the game and he found DIY directions on the Internet. It ended up being a fun project for us to do together.
NOTE to self and readers… I would like to say that the direction of the zig zag was intentional. No.. The saying goes and it works. Measure twice, cut once. Or in my case, think about it and don’t wash/shrink the fabric. Depending on the direction of the print, make sure you have enough for the width of the headboard. If you “just” have enough, don’t be a smarty pants and wash the fabric. Headboard fabric doesn’t need to be pre-shrunk. Hence, the lovely lightning bolts theme.
Next up in my zig zag project bucket are babybags for my NEW Etsy shop. Pillows for the couch will then complete my obsession.. Stay tuned as I share more projects.

Your zig zag headboard looks amazing. Such a great idea to spruce up the old headboard. The bag I bought as our baby’s diaper bag is the exact same colors and I love it. Zig zag forever!
