Inspired By.. Quilting!

in Inspiration on 10/03/14

Welcome back to me! I’ve been away for a little bit… I’d like to say it was a much needed vacation and I’ve been at the beach laying in a hammock. Truthfully, I’ve had an insane cold that wouldn’t go away.  It got the best of me and my blog. I am so happy to be back.

This week is all about quilts! I’m sharing my inspiration today. I’ve taken on making a baby blanket for my best friend. I’m a month behind, but I’m following along with the Modern Bee book and making the “Playing Cards”  quilt from the February block.

This January I was part of a sew along that Lindsay Conner hosted. Lindsay wrote the book Modern Bee – 13 Quilts To Make With Friends. I was lucky to be apart of the sew along. I am now inspired to take on the 13 blocks in the book and attempt to quilt each month.

I have been sewing for more than 15 years, but quilting for under 5. I find sewing and pattern drafting really easy. However, quilting gets the best of me and my brain.  I feel like I am always mixing stuff up! So when I was offered to test a product called Alphabitties, I jumped at the chance! Alphabitties are specialty marking tools – small plastic squares to label fabric after cutting.

On Wednesday, I will be showing more about this product and how helpful these little squares are.

Until Wednesday.. Happy sewing.

I saw your post on instagram and when tried to get into it, it was already full.. Lindsay said she was surprised at how fast it filled up. Agh! I look forward to seeing everything you all make. I’m on the mend. Can’t believe how many times I’ve been sick since Jan 1st!

My entry for this week’s design challenge @spoon My entry for this week’s design challenge @spoonflower. Browns are definitely not my favorite color these days, but the challenge was “earth tones” and using just 4 colors.

Ps. This started as a super simple block print and then I scanned it into the computer and drew the pattern in illustrator.

If you have a moment you can head over to spoonflower to vote. ❤️✔️

I am so glad it’s the weekend. How about you? I’m off prompt for the month and here is #carvedecember, Day 7 and the prompt for “Long”. I really like structured, linear and streamlined prints. With this challenge, I am playing around and trying new things.

So many people have asked me about my process. One So many people have asked me about my process. One tip is that I love using a grid to create the overall design and keep the block print streamlined. Here’s how you go about it. #carvedecember #carvedecember2022 #blockprinting #haberdasheryfun #blockprinted #speedballink
Simple block print for the prompt “Ponder”. I Simple block print for the prompt “Ponder”. I get a lot of questions on my process, so you can check out my reel for a little behind the scenes.

Day 5 for #carvedecember is “Plain”. I’m not Day 5 for #carvedecember is “Plain”. I’m not a huge fan of florals, and for some reason this shape came to mind. By itself it is kinda boring/ plain. In a repeat design it definitely comes alive.

What is your printing process? Do you like all an over scattered or a grid pattern? My favorite way to work is using a pencil grid and then making a very linear and streamlined print.
