Sewing Tools.. Wish List 2014

in Inspiration on 03/01/14

I have a long running wish list..  This seems selfish and I shouldn’t admit it.. But, as one item gets taken off the list.. I add a few more.

So here it is. My wish list for 2014!

Janome Memory Craft – A new sewing machine is at the top, top, top of the list. For some reason the new flat screen TV trumped the purchasing of a new machine. Hmmmm. I guess it’s Football and Hockey vs sewing in our house. However, I will have a new shiny machine in the first half of 2014.

Steady Betty – I just found out about this one and need it asap. Sometimes I’m really lazy and don’t feel like dragging out my iron and ironing board.. This is the perfect in between. Just place it on any work surface and iron away!! Thank you to my friend Karin over at Leigh Laurel Studios for introducing the Steady Betty to me!

Olfa Cutting Mat – 2 sizes! Ok, I already have 2 mats, but I want new ones – A large mat to cover my table and the smaller square mat.  The square size is small enough to adjust and rotate while laying on top of the large mat. So no more sitting on the table to get that perfect cut.

Olfa Rotary Cutter – I have the ergonomic cutter and love it. I have had it for MANY years. I would like the  45mm “original” rotary cutter that can be used by both lefties and righties. Helps when you have a funky angle that needs to be cut.

Creative Grids Ruler –  The best rulers out there. These have small grips on the bottom that stick to your fabric. So no sliding around. I need a longer one. The one I have is just too short. If you are buying a ruler for the first time, get the 6-1/2 x 24-1/2 ruler. You won’t have to adjust and shift the ruler up/saving yourself from potential cutting issues and a few tears.

Last year I had a Silhouette Cameo on my list.. But my wonderful husband BOUGHT me one for Christmas!! Yay. I am very excited, but it is still in the box. I promise to open it soon and will keep you posted as I go along.. I already have quite a few ideas brewing.

Happy New Year! Happy sewing for 2014.

Great list! TV would have trumped sewing machine here, too. You will LOVE the Memory Craft! I’m going to a quilting retreat in a few months and am definitely taking Steady Betty with me. 🙂

Thanks Karin. I can’t wait for my new machine! Not sure when i will get it, but it’s a MUST for 2014. Have fun on your retreat! I can’t wait to hear about it.
