Zipper, zip, zippers.. There’s no way to say it, but just that I love a good zipper. I appreciate a designer who can add that special touch with something like a zipper. Colorful zippers with metal teeth are my #1 and exposed zippers are my #2 favorites these days.
Exposed zippers have been a big trend in the last year or so.. For a sewer or someone in production, this is a dream come true. It makes setting a zipper very easy. The most simple way is to just place it on top of your fabric, sew down and be done! The addition of a contrasting top stitch color can be extra embellishment. And yes, colorful zippers with metal teeth are very fashionable these days. Used as a pop of color or as trim detail when inserted into a seam edge, metal zips can be seen everywhere on shoes, belts, handbags and clothing.
While I have been wanting to design and sew make-up cases for awhile, I haven’t been overly motivated.. This weekend I picked up a few 7″ cobalt blue metal zippers. Now, with these new zippers from the Coats and Clark product line I finally feel inspired!
Stay tuned as I share an easy step by step DIY project…
