It’s the 1st of the month and do you know what that means..? It’s time for the Bella Skill Builder Quilt Along hosted by The Fat Quarter Shop. This month is the pineapple block. You can find more details on their blog the Jolly Jabber.
These blocks tested me. They weren’t overly hard, but there were LOTS of them. They are time consuming and tested my patience.
For these blocks, I used Bella Solids in the following colors – melon, honeydew, admiral blue and white. I love the color combination and how they turned out. They kind of remind me of the CBC logo – what do you think?
There are 7 blocks – 3 small and 4 large. Phew. The best advice I can give it to set aside plenty of time to complete everything. Slow and steady wins the race.
To complete the block you will need:
- Bella Solids in 4 colors
- Pineapple block instructions
- Creative Grids non slip ruler and Pineapple Trim Tool.
- Cutting Mat
- Olfa Rotary cutter
- Sewing machine and iron
This was my first time using the Pineapple Trim Tool. It was easy to navigate and if you are a newbie like me you will find the block instructions to be helpful and guide you through using the tool. I have been a fan of Creative Grids rulers for quite some time, but I am now a big fan of the Pineapple Trim Tool.
Head over to the Jolly Jabber blog to download the block and to see the complete list of bloggers taking part. They also have a FAQ page with tons of information about the Quilt Along.
Happy Sewing!
