Product Review.. Little Monsters Pillow

I’ve said it a few times here on my blog. I like taking sewing classes.  I have a local quilting and sewing store called Keep Me In Stitches. They have amazing instructors. Taking a class is a great way to learn new techniques and brush up on my sewing skills.

This time around, it was an applique class that caught my eye.  And a very cute pillow as the class project.   The pillow project was called “Little Monsters” by the amazing quilt designer Kellie Wulfsohn.  She is Australian and designs incredible products – her pillow and quilt patterns are sold internationally under the name “Don’t Look Now”.  It isn’t easy to find current information for her, but check out her Facebook page here.

Materials Needed:

• Fabric – you will need a variety of colors
• Fusible Web – Steam-A-Seam 2
• Batting – Pellon Fusible TP971F is a good choice
• Child’s or baby’s name print out
• Sewing materials, scissors, pins, thread
• Rotary cutter, cutting mat, creative grids quilting ruler
• Sewing machine, iron and ironing board
• Little Monsters pattern – comes with pattern for 2 pillows and a quilt

The class at Keep Me In Stitches is over. I didn’t get nearly as much completed as I thought I would.

The monsters have been cut and placed onto the pillow.  Steam-A-Seam was used to set the little guys into place.  Next up is to applique around everything. In hindsight I wish I had layered and appliquéd in a more systematic process – 1 layer at a time. Placing everything at once and then appliquéing down seems to be a more difficult approach.

If you want to learn to sew, or have thougth about taking a quilting or applique class – Go for it!  I am so happy to have found such an incredible local resource.  In just a few short hours, you will have learned a valuable skill and something new.
