DIY.. Simple Superman Onesie

in Baby, DIY Projects on 17/10/13

Do you have a new baby?  I’m sure you are way too tired to even think about a Halloween costume.  Well, fear not. Here is a simple Halloween tutorial using a onesie and a small piece of fabric.. I promise this costume will take less than an hour to make!!

Materials Needed:

  1. Baby onesie – I bought a 4 pack for $9.99. Keep extras around the house for future projects
  2. Felt – in baby pink or blue
  3. Fusible Web – check out Pellon EZ Steam
  4. Sewing machine and related supplies
  5. Superhero logo to trace
  6. Pen

Halloween is less than 2 weeks away.  With just a few supplies and a sewing machine, you can create this cute Superman costume in no time. Pair the onesie with pink or blue leggings from American Apparel and you are good to go.

Alright, let’s go:

Trace your image onto the fusible web. Trace on the smooth side. Remember to FLIP your image and then trace.

Once your image is traced, place it onto the felt fabric. Iron down. Cut out.

Peel off the backing.

Figure out placement and lay onto your onesie. Use an iron and press down in place.

Place into your sewing machine and stitch down. Make sure to not stretch the onesie too much – especially the neckline.  If you don’t have a sewing machine or applique scares you.. Handstitch around the edges. Refer to the original image for where to sew.

Pull all the threads to the inside of the onesie.  Trim the threads

Ta-Da.. that’s it. Trick or Treat.

Until next time.. Happy Sewing!

Square and heart prompts layered into this stamp. Square and heart prompts layered into this stamp. I’m in Phoenix for my son’s soccer tournament and brought my block-printing supplies along. With a limited color palette, this ghost print actually grew on me.

Set to Stranger Things because I’m fully obsessed. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season
