DIY.. Heart Shaped Sachets

in Fat Quarter Projects on 10/05/13

LOVE YOU MOM!  This one is for all the Moms out there.  Not only is this project easy, but it’s also super sweeeet!

This is a perfect Saturday morning last minute project.. Just give yourself an hour.  Sit down with some fabric scraps, sewing machine, air freshners and make Mom a bunch of these. You will have a cute AND fresh scented gift for Mother’s Day.

Project level – beginner sewing skills needed

Materials Needed:

  • Fabric – a variety of colors.  Good use for scraps or fat quarters
  • Thread, pins, scissors
  • Paper and pen to make the hearts
  • Air freshner – buy a nice, happy scent for Mom
  • Sewing machine

Super easy steps:

  1. Draw a heart shape and add 3/8″ seam allowance
  2. Pin to fabric – cut out 2 pieces per fabric color
  3. WRONG sides together and place into sewing machine. Start sewing on one of the straight edges.  With a 3/8″ seam allowance sew around the heart. Leave a 1″ opening
  4. Cut up your batting and air freshner into little pieces
  5. Stuff your batting and air freshener into the heart
  6. Pin the opening closet and sew
  7. Repeat – why not make a few!?

Happy Sewing!

Great Idea for Mother’s Day! I need to make one and put it in my stinky car before I pick mom up Sunday…

    Awwww adorable!
What a cute idea, my mommy is receiving many gifts on Sunday, but I’ll have to make this “just because” sometime soon!

So cute. I guess we could make these in any shape. I am going to make these. How long does the scent last?

I always say to myself that I’m going to create a random print and then go straight for a structured layout.
