Inspired by.. “Glimma” Canvas from Lotta Jansdotter

in Inspiration on 13/05/14

Ohhh… Lotta Jansdotter.. You rock!

I’ve had a few pieces of “Glimma” canvas shoved in my stash for a few weeks. This nature inspired combo has been patiently waiting for me to pull it out and get my act together.

I went back and forth on sewing the “Glimma Tote” that was designed by Laura Jaquinto for Windham Fabrics. But, I have storage bins and pouches on my brain right now.  The thoughts are starting to get a bit obsessive and are keeping me up at night.  While I was staring at the fabric the other day, I received a vision of canvas pouches lined up in an mixture of sizes.  Lol. This is sort of true.

Did you know there was a time in my life when I would ONLY sew with canvas fabric? I was addicted to this stuff. It was while we lived in New York City.  I spent my nights designing and sewing canvas handbags. Then during the spring and summer months, we should drive up the Connetitcut coast and sell my stuff at art and craft festivals. My husband used to say we had a mini factory in our apartment. So, I’m guessing the time is right to get a few canvas related tutorials out to you all.

And calling all Canadians [ And Americans too.. ].. Head on over Warp and Weft for all your sewing needs! They have a beautifully curated selection of fabric. I’ve had the pleasure of emailing and getting aquainted with the owner Esmari Taylor. She calls herself a fabric junkie.. Smile. You are in great hands!

Happy Sewing.

Marni, you won’t believe it but I just pulled out the same kit from my stash yesterday and it is now lying on my cutting table waiting patiently! I squirreled one away for myself and your post about it is obviously a sign that I should get my act together and just make it already!
Thanks so much for the mention and I look forward to seeing what you end up deciding to make with these gorgeous prints. And yes, Lotta Jansdotter totally rocks!
