Quick Tip..The Wonders of Wonder Tape

in Sewing Tips & Tricks on 30/01/13

Hey sewers and crafters,

I love to find things from around the house to aid in my sewing projects. How about you??  Have you ever heard of Wonder Tape?  I recently tried it and I am now hooked!

Wonder Tape is a double sided WASH AWAY TAPE.  It adheres to your fabric like regular tape and then you can sew without your fabric, trim or item jiggling around.

The process is simple:

  1. Figure out length of tape needed
  2. Peel and stick onto the face of your fabric
  3. Peel the second side away
  4. Place item on top of stickiness  ie) sewing labels, ric rack, webbing, etc
  5. Gently finger press to secure
  6. Sew, sew away

Just think of everything you can use this for..

      Hi Brenda,

Is your tape double sided? Double check. You can also try a small amount if fabric glue along the zipper tape edge. I even use an elmers glue stick. Run a small amount along the tape or fabric edge. Then use wonder clips on top until it dries.

I was working thru the wing detail on my last bloc I was working thru the wing detail on my last block print and needed a quick break. Here is the “Narrow-borded bee hawk-moth”.. My brain always pulls for a linear and structured print. I like how this brick print turned out, it might be fun used along with my Rorschach moth block print...

Can you see it? This block print is the North Quee Can you see it? This block print is the North Queensland Day Moth and also an unintentional Rorschach Test. Lol.

It was fun to design and share even though it feels unfinished.. Now it's time to sit back and think what I can add to it.

I have recently fallen in ❤️ with "challenges" + prompts. I'm sharing along this March with #marchmothmadness24 and #marchmeetthemaker2024.

In #marchmeetthemaker land.. This post is also for the prompt "Challenges". If you haven't tried a monthly design prompt challenge, I say go for one. There are lots out there to play along with.

I've been playing around with my block prints and taking them into illustrator and seeing what I can come up with. This print is getting closer to my overall style with is scratchy outline and less perfect look. I love bold colors, but the subdued one is also fun.

I've been wanting to block print moths for awhile I've been wanting to block print moths for awhile and and jumping in with the white-spotted sable moth for #marchmothmadness24.

I stopped at the silhouette b/c I love a silhouette and also ran out of time. I've been thinking of different ways to play with my block prints and this was the perfect opportunity to try something new. All I had was a thick sharpie that didn't create the best lines. Makes me realize I need to buy new pens and art supplies so I can get mark making.

Any pen favorites or paint pen suggestions that I should buy?

This post also coincides with "Evolution" for #marchmeethemaker.

I took the last little bit off social media and ha I took the last little bit off social media and have had this simple print running thru my head. Thought I'd give it a go in illustrator instead of making a block print of it.

Day 12 for #marchmeetthemaker2024 is "Focus and Priorities". I am working on spending less time scrolling and more time being present + making art.

How about you, any new practices for 2024?
