Make A Sparkly Holiday Clutch

in Bags and Pouches, DIY Projects on 12/12/16

Every time I go out I tell myself that I’m going to make a sparkly pouch to hold all my stuff. Then I wake up and life happens.

My Silhouette Challenge buddies and I are all sharing projects “Holiday” themed projects on our blogs today. Plus there’s a giveaway.

So with this challenge and holiday parties looming on the horizon, making a sparkly evening pouch was a real possibility this year.

Materials:

  1. Silhouette Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl
  2. Silhouette Cameo or Portrait
  3. Silhouette materials
  4. Black canvas fabric
  5. Zipper – Zipit Zippers on Etsy have great prices and an awesome selection
  6. Sewing machine and supplies
  7. Iron and ironing board

I love how the triangles turned out. Don’t they look great in the glitter vinyl?

I bought the design quite awhile ago and have been waiting for a project to use it on.  The design is called “Triangles Page Mat”and is designed by Sarah Hurley / Design ID #56843. Head to the Silhouette Design Store for more of her great designs.

There are a gazillion heat transfer vinyl tutorials out there. Before you get started, here are a few key things to consider..

  • Place the vinyl with the glitter side facing down on the mat.
  • I like the following cut settings:: Blade 4, Speed 4 and Thickness 19.
  • Weed carefully.
  • Place the film/vinyl on your fabric so that the glitter faces up.
  • Use a pressing cloth on top of the film..
  • Press with a hot iron in one place for 45- 60 seconds.
  • Use a firm hand and press down on the iron.
  • Gently pull the film away. If some of the glitter comes away from the fabric, place the film back down and press again.
  • No steam.
  • Be careful when pulling the film away – it can be hot!

Want to make a clutch, but don’t know how to get started? I have a few tutorials to get you going.. Try this easy pouch tutorial or this one.

I’m having serious clutch envy right now, this is so cute! I love the design and am seriously jealous that you make the clutch yourself (my sewing skills are non-existent!).

My sweet boy Arlo turns 7 this week. He is always by my side and has been my shadow since the day he was born❤️ . He is often in my studio, patiently waiting, photobombing a tutorial or playing w/ my supplies.
